Susan's Story
Life
I completed degrees in Materials Engineering and Physics. I Have also completed an MBA in Technology Management.
I went into engineering in the medical device industry and have helped to develop and launch several successful medical products which help people in the areas of diabetes, heart conditions, and general health care.
I have moved back and forth from working for companies directly and running my own consulting company.
I have been married twice and now have 2 children. We have lived north of LA since 1987 and miss snow at the holidays!
I was a Cub Scout leader and a Girl Scout leader for 5 years each. Our son (17) is now in High School and a yellow belt in karate. Our daughter (12) is on swim team and is a green belt in karate. My husband is also an engineer.
School
In high school I worked very hard to get a scholarship. Between that and my parents, I missed out on a lot of fun.
If I had it to live over, I would not have taken everything so seriously. I would have had more fun and laughed more!
College

pleted degrees in both Materials Engineering and Physics at the University of Utah. I started graduate work in Materials Eng, but 'dropped out' during my divorce.
I tried too hard to finish college fast so I could get out and earn money. I missed out on a lot of the 'college' experiences.
I completed a MBA in Technology Management from University of Phoenix online program in 2004.
If I had it to do over again, I would have taken it slower and had more fun during college.
Workplace
I have worked both as an employee and as a consultant for many companies large and small. I started in Manufacturing Engineering and moved into Product Development (R&D). I have 12 US patents issued, a few Us & International patents pending.
I have always worked in the medical device field. I enjoy knowing that the things I help design and implement help people.
I have run my own consulting corporation over the last 18 years ( 12 of those years were full time). I like consulting because it allows me to have a flexible schedule while the kids are still at home.
